Michael has spent the past two decades at the intersection of investing and entrepreneurship, leading transactions across private equity and venture capital and working hands-on with management teams to scale technology businesses.
He began his career in technology consulting at Arthur D. Little and later in top-management consulting at McKinsey & Company before moving into principal investing. Early on, he helped shape Austria’s angel ecosystem by founding one of the country’s first business angel funds and launching the Austria Business Angel Days. He later helped build and led a Vienna-based private equity firm as Managing Partner and CIO. In parallel, he has chaired the investment committee of one of Austria’s largest venture capital initiatives for more than a decade and holds board and management roles in several technology companies in Europe and the United States.
At Sparring, Michael leads origination, fundraising, and deal execution. Within the portfolio, his focus is on go-to-market acceleration, strategy, and M&A. He holds a Master’s degree in International Business Administration from WU Vienna and Singapore Management University. Outside of work, he is passionate about mountaineering, skiing, and diving.
